Red Granite’s Pruet by Bad Boy is proving to be everything we hoped for in a next-generation sire. His father, Bad Boy, is well known for remarkable longevity of fineness—an eight-year AFD record that speaks for itself—and Pruet is following directly in those footsteps. His first three histograms all show an AFD under 19 microns, a rare consistency that strongly indicates he will carry this fineness well into maturity. His most recent Histogram for 2025 has him Grade 2 at 22 microns but at age eight. Beyond fineness, Pruet brings meaningful improvements in density, crimp, handle, and overall fleece quality. His EPD profile is exceptional, with significant positive impact in 7 of 8 fiber traits. These aren’t marginal gains—they are the kind of measurable improvements breeders look for when aiming to elevate a white breeding program. Even more impressive, Pruet surpasses his sire in staple length and fleece weight rankings, giving breeders the best of Bad Boy’s fineness genetics plus added strength in two critical fleece traits. He is, in every sense, the real deal. Red Granite describes him this way: “Standing on a strong and great frame and carrying a gorgeous bright crimp with the BLING factor, he is a very exciting male to look at. Most importantly, his fleece remains very fine and retains extraordinary brightness, handle, and uniformity across his blanket. We would assume that all of those traits listed above would also be passed down to his offspring—after all, that is what this exceptional sire line is known for doing…” We’re also seeing an interesting trend in his offspring: noticeably higher birth weights and robust early development. This has been true not only in our own offspring but in Pruet offspring from other farms as well.
